Cardno Emerging Markets USA, Ltd. (Cardno) is seeking candidates for a Market Development Advisor for potential project working on care, protection, and empowerment of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) in Uganda. 

The ideal candidate will lead and be responsible for the development of microenterprise activities under the project that will contribute to increasing incomes and improving livelihoods for vulnerable populations and families affected by HIV/AIDS. This will be a full time position based in Uganda.

Principal responsibilities include:

Develop overall strategy for increasing market-based opportunities for target communities

Identify microenterprise opportunities that are appropriate to target communities

Oversee the implementation of market-based livelihood programs

Broker relationships between OVC caregivers and various market actors including lead firms, business support services, etc.

Expand existing programs. This may include advising lead firms on how to expand their market share

Work closely with local communities to coordinate microfinance activities

Liaise with Country Coordinator in Uganda and Cardno Project Manager/DC

Masters degree preferably in Business Administration or related field

10+ years experience in business development, market facilitation, microenterprise development, designing income generation activities, and managing community based programs

Good knowledge of local business context and ability to efficiently communicate ideas to business leaders, caregivers and other program staff

Previous experience in the area of capacity building and training

Experience with financial management highly desired

Fluency in English required; proficiency in local languages highly desired
